Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper
This is one of those books that really makes you wonder, especially when you see and interact with kids who have cerebral palsy. Melody is in the 5th grade and has a photographic memory, but no one knows this. She finally gets a computer to help her vocalize and life as she nows it changes. This is one of those heart warming books in which Sharon Draper allows the reader to make a connection with Melody on such a personal level that you can feel her triumphs and tribulations and get really happy or angry. At one point I wanted to jump in the book and tell some of the other characters my thoughts! This is a wonderful book for all ages and I haven't read a lot of Sharon Draper books, but because of this one I'm now a fan.
